Most of you will remember one of our benevolence recipients in Cape Town, South Africa who Wellspring sponsored going to chef school after her rescue out of prostitution. She wrote at the time of her graduation that she felt like the horse in "Seabiscuit", being given a second chance by someone who believed in her not just in word but in deed. This young woman graduated at the top of her class and has been working in a hotel, proving herself an exemplary chef and employee. Today we received a fax copy of a "Certificate of Excellence" awarded to her. The Certificate read, "...for outstanding performance and lasting contribution..." We rejoice with her and thank God for the remarkable transformation that has taken place.
Naomi was contacted by a friend of Wellspring in California who has offered to provide all the expenses for an international benevolence recipient to come to the US for a surgical procedure, specifically in the area of reconstructive surgery. This is significant for many reasons: very often the procedures needed are simply not available in a given country; even more prohibitive is that these procedures represent a cost that many families could never hope to afford. We have the opportunity to provide not only the procedure itself, but also travel and housing expenses, visa and passport documents, and the associated costs for a family member to travel with the recipient. We are currently evaluating candidates for this very generous gift and will have more information soon.
We have also been working diligently on updates to the Wellspring website, including new pictures on the gallery page. The project page will grow to include our four most recent projects in just a few days. These are the Jordan and Syria clinics which provide aid to Iraqi refugees in those countries, along with Peermade Development Society and the Guild of Service, located in Kerala and Vrindavan, India, respectively. Please visit the site, read more about the projects themselves, and share in the beauty of the story through our new pictures.
